i... can't... wait...

It must be spring in Minnesota. In only 15 days (if the guy on the answering machine is telling the truth), the Vali-Hi Drive In will open for the season. This place is easily the best place to catch a movie in the Twin Cities area, for the following reasons:
  • Triple feature
  • $7.50 per person (at least that's what it was last year)
  • Little kids running around in pajamas
  • Sound through your car's stereo
  • Bring the dog
  • Steaks/salmon/hot dogs/hamburgers on your portable grill
  • Awesome snack bar
  • Cold beer/wine/soda/whatevs in your cooler
You just gotta get there early. And I mean EARLY. Check this out.

God, I remember drive-ins with fondness, only in the old days you didn't have great sound like through your speakers or anything. The Vali-Hi sounds fabulous, Nayana. No wonder you can't wait.

This reminds me that the Hollywood Forever Cemetery summer film series gets cranked up in a few weeks. Movies from Hollywood's Golden Age as well as stuff like Harold and Maude or Pee-wee's Big Adventure have been a few of the films screened Saturday nights in the past.

The movies are projected onto the side of one of the masoleums there for about 2,500 hipsters on blankets. No kids running around in pajamas but there is a DJ before the show.

This reminds me I really need to find a girlfriend so I'll have someone to go with.

Thanks for hipping me to the Twin Cities scene.

The Vali-Hi IS fabulous, Rick. It's one of the reasons it's so great to be a Minnesotan.

Oh, Joe, that sounds fabulous. Sounds like a must-do if ever I get my booty to Cali.
